“Despite the fact that more and more people are comfortable “coming out” as atheists, the word is still very much associated with being immoral, or at the very least amoral. This, of course, despite the fact that there is neither logical nor empirical reason to draw that conclusion. Ever since Plato’s dialogue, philosophers have agreed that gods are simply irrelevant to morality, regardless of whether they exist or not. And of course modern sociological research shows that atheists are just as moral as religious believers. Still, the stigma persists.”
“I had rather be shut up in a very modest cottage with my books, my family and a few old friends, dining on simple bacon, and letting the world roll on as it liked, than to occupy the most splendid post, which any human power can give.”—Thomas Jefferson (via justbesplendid)
and i haven’t been even close to a record shop on my way to and from school, so i haven’t been able to get it. it’s driving me craaaaazzyy. but i’m avoiding itunes. i want to listen to that cd, AS a cd first, front to back, and not on my ipod. jimmyeatworld deserves that, and deserves to be a hardcopy in my cd collection, because of what their music has meant to me. i’ll definitley have it by friday! AH. i hope i can wait that long, haha.
“Your life is the sum result of all the choices you make, both consciously and unconsciously. If you can control the process of choosing, you can take control of all aspects of your life. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself.”—Robert F. Bennett (via justbesplendid)

“All is in a man’s hands and he lets it all slip from cowardice, that’s an axiom. It would be interesting to know what it is men are most afraid of. Taking a new step, uttering a new word is what they fear most.”—Crime And Punishment, Ch. 1, Fyodor Dostoyevski. (via miguee-e)
